Men's Section

The Gents section at Aldwickbury is blessed with both a thriving membership and a busy competitions and social calendar. We are incredibly lucky that our membership comprises golfers of all ages and abilities. Whether your golfing ambition consists of social games with friends, friendly matches with other members or playing organised, handicap qualifying competitions, you’ll be pleased to know there are plenty of options for all.

For new members without handicaps or needing to refresh them, we provide a buddy service to mark score cards. Also, there are a number of ‘swindles’ that operate including groups on Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. The names of the organisers can be given to anyone seeking to take part.

Most swindles usually offer some friendly competition with a small entry fee providing funds to be distributed to the winners, runners up and nearest the pins for example. One thing is certain, all offer the chance for a drink of your choice afterwards and if you are lucky enough to win, light hearted queries about your handicap (which may well be reduced next time you play!).

On the more formal side of competitions, we are fortunate to have a dedicated competitions team on the Gents Committee who organise a multitude of competitions throughout the year. These include the ever popular Summer and Winter League events run over a number of weekends, Monthly and Weekly Stableford and Medal (strokeplay) competitions, mixed and team events and of course, Honours Board ‘Major’ competitions too.

We also have a full scratch team and enter teams into the Chiltern Breakfast League and the Hertfordshire Foxes Leagues.

Finally, there are a number of mixed competitions throughout the year, and Gents over 55 can also play in our Seniors (Aldwicks) competitions.

One thing is for sure, joining as a Gent at Aldwickbury will never leave you short of an opportunity for a game.

Ladies Section

Aldwickbury has a strong, friendly and inclusive Ladies section, which provides a wide range of golfing opportunities for players of all levels, and a warm welcome for new members and visitors.

We play every Wednesday morning and offer a full calendar of organised Ladies’ competitions, including Stablefords (both 18 and 9 hole), Medals, Foursomes, Trophy events, Knock-outs and Fun competitions throughout the year which are open to all. There is also a group of Lady Members who play at the weekends in competitions and our regular Saturday Swindle. General play can be enjoyed at all other times.

Many of our ladies also regularly join in with Seniors, Mixed and Club competitions alongside other members.
We organise a number of prestige events, including our popular Ladies Open in August, the Granny Bowl trophy, an Invitation Day, Lady Captain’s Awayday and our annual Ladies Championships which takes place over 36 holes.

In addition to a full schedule of Friendly matches, we enter teams into the Pearson Trophy, the Ovaltine Ladies’ Scratch Leagues and the Chiltern Ladies Golf League, giving our members a chance to improve their match play skills and the opportunity to play at other clubs in the area.

For beginners, we offer Academy membership, which allows play and practice on our lovely Par 3 course which can be supported by various lesson packages with our resident pro, Robin Turley. We are very keen to welcome new members and provide them with a supported route into full club membership with the help of a buddy system to get you started.

Seniors Section - "The Aldwicks"

The Aldwicks is the section of Aldwickbury Park Golf Club dedicated to those members, both gentlemen and ladies, who have reached the age of 55. We are a friendly and relaxed group and are keen to welcome new Aldwickbury members to play in our events. When you join Aldwickbury, you are eligible to play in them and just need to provide your contact details to the current Aldwicks Captain (for 2021 – this is Trevor Bull, who you can contact at [email protected]).

We organise a range of competitions throughout the year, including monthly medals or stablefords, matchplay events, scrambles, greensomes and many fun events. Highlights of the year are our nine Honours Board competitions, which include the Senior Gents Championships, Senior Ladies Championships and Senior Memorial Trophy (the latter for super seniors aged 75 and over).

The Aldwicks gents play a full programme of matches against the senior sections of other golf clubs and there are also a few mixed matches against other clubs as well.

Competitions and matches are invariably played on Tuesdays or Thursdays and a full programme of events is detailed within the Members Area of the website.
